A Sea of islands!
It's near Contorno Road. The second largest island in Angra. There you will enjoy some nice still water beaches, and others which are perfect for surfing. The green and lush nature preponderates in this islands. There's a traditional community, pousadas (inns), mansions, excellent restaurants and diving points. Its main beaches are Flechas, Jurubaíba, Piedade, Fazenda and Armação.
When the boat slowly gets near the beach, it's impossible to resist the temptation: diving is a must! In fact, there are two islands, Cataguás and Peregrino, one next to other, but the locals consider them only one thing, the "Cataguases" Island, as it's known. Its beach has crystal clear water. It's only 10 minutes from Angra's downtown.
They can be seen from the city center, on next to the other. They look like a pair of boots ("Botinas", in Portuguese, is a kind of boots). Their beauty is unique, and they are also known as twin islands or sister islands. When you go ther by boat, you can see the bottom of the ocean and its white sand, with many amazing rocks! It's one of the most popular tour rides among tourists. These islands have a special charm.
This green-blue peaceful waters island is a place where modern and tradition live together. There is an intensive nighlife, many celebrities and nautical events. it's near Frade Neighborhood. The island has many restaurant, with typical gastronomy options, nice places to just go for a walk, as well as canoeing, diving and several other sports.
